The FINANCIAL -- None will replace Ukraine on the world market of sunflower oil, declared
Nikolai Prysiazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, on December
13.
He also noted that Ukraine managed to defend own position on the export duties on sunflower seed during negotiations on establishment of the free trade zone with the EU. In particular, the Government plans to make the gradual reduction of the export duties by 1% per year.
The Minister stressed that Ukrainian agricultural producers have to increase yield indices of the oilseed, improve effectiveness of the production and usage of harvesting machinery. Besides, N.Prysiazhnyuk said that sunflower processors should participate in forward purchasing of seeds.
According to Stepan Kapshuk, Head of the association "Ukroliyaprom", during 11 months of 2011 Ukraine produced 2.8 mln tonnes of sunflower oil. Exports of the product totaled 2.4 mln tonnes.
In 2011 Ukraine will produce 3.15 mln tonnes of sunflower oil, and export 2.7 mln tonnes.
While speaking about possible competition from Russian sunflower oil on the world market in the terms of the record harvest of sunflower, S.Kapshuk noted that Russia has large domestic consumption and exports of sunflower oil from the country is forecasted at the level of 1 mln tonnes.
