The FINANCIAL -- The United States Department of Agriculture reduced the forecast of
wheat exports from Ukraine in its December report from the level of 8
mln tonnes to 7 mln tonnes, leaving unchanged the export volumes of
Ukrainian maize and barley.
According to Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, the USDA figures for wheat exports from Ukraine in the realities of the world markets can most likely be regarded as potential resource opportunities.
Experts of the Confederation point out that basing on the actual rates of wheat exports in recent months, Ukraine are almost twice as lagging behind the marked rate of the marketing year. Thus, there are no prerequisites for enhancing of the export sales, stated Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation.
According to analysts of APK-Inform Agency, the export volumes of wheat from Ukraine in 2011/12 MY may reach the level of 9 mln tonnes.
Export rates of Ukrainian maize are significantly more optimistic in recent months. The forecast of APK-Inform Agency in the exports of maize in the current MY totals 12.5 mln tonnes.
Barley exports from Ukraine became stable at the level of 1.8 mln tonnes (in November - 16 thsd tonnes, in the first week of December - 15 thsd tonnes), due to the export duties, noted experts of Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation. But even after cancellation of the duties since January 1, 2012, Ukraine is unlikely to find free mobile resources of the crop for exports in the planned volume of the USDA, said the Confederation.
