The FINANCIAL -- Stepan Kapshuk, General Director of the Association "Ukroliyaprom",
stated that the price of sunflower oil in Ukraine was stable throughout
the whole 2011 period.
According to him, until March 2012 there is no reason to talk about the growth of prices for sunflower oil.
He also noted that in the current year Ukraine harvested a record crop of sunflower seed, which led to reduction of the purchasing prices.
S.Kapshuk noted that to date Ukrainian agrarians constrain sales of sunflower seed, relying on rising of the prices in the future, which also makes problems on the market. There is no reason to say about the lack of sunflower oil in the country.
Oleg Samus, representative of the company Suntrade, also noted that since September 2011 the price for sunflower oil continued reducing, and there is no reason to expect for the growth in prices. At the same time, he said that agrarians are not very actively selling sunflower seeds.
Rafael Kuzmin, Deputy Head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine , said the domestic prices of sunflower oil should be lower compared to the export prices. The Antimonopoly Committee also opposes the coordinated price policy on the market of sunflower oil and against the creation of shortage of the product in the country.
