The publication runs Cool Places to Work lists bi-annually; and this year added the ‘tough times’ component given the downturn in the economy over the past year, particularly in Michigan.

"The Tax & Accounting and Healthcare & Science businesses, which together include more than 1,800 employees in Ann Arbor and Dexter, Mich., collaborated to submit the nomination as well as a video illustrating what makes the company so cool," Thomson Reuters said.

Nominations were evaluated against extensive ‘cool’ criteria, such as company offered programs: alternative work schedules, employee benefits, volunteerism, workplace safety, diversity, appraisal/recognition, computer/networking technology, environment-friendly, and much more.

Thomson Reuters will be recognized as one of the Coolest Places to Work in Tough Times at a Detroit-area Awards Ceremony on Dec. 2.
