The FINANCIAL -- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce on March 12 announced that Lisa Rickard, president of the Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) and senior vice president of the U.S. Chamber, has been promoted to executive vice president of the U.S. Chamber, while also continuing with her day-to-day duties as president of ILR.

In her expanded role, Rickard is leading several key strategic initiatives where she is managing multiple responsibilities and cross-divisional U.S. Chamber teams.

"Lisa's accomplishments as president of ILR are well documented both inside the Beltway and across the country," said U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue.  "Through the use of innovative strategies and tactics, she has built an organization that stands at the forefront nationally as the voice against lawsuit abuse.  Lisa is respected throughout the business and political communities for her expertise, goal-oriented approach, and ability to drive results. I know the Chamber and ILR will continue to benefit from her continued success."

In addition to her new responsibilities, Rickard will continue to provide strategic leadership to ILR's comprehensive program aimed at improving the nation's legal climate. Rickard has led multiple comprehensive reform campaigns at the state and federal levels. She also leads the Coalition to Curb Global Forum Shopping, which seeks to stop the importation of foreign lawsuits to U.S. courts and stem the export of U.S.-style litigation features to other countries.

Rickard spent more than 25 years as a public policy advocate, most recently as vice president of Federal and State Government Affairs for the Dow Chemical Company. Previously, she was senior vice president of Federal and State Government Relations for Ryder System, Inc, and was a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld.

ILR seeks to promote civil justice reform through legislative, political, judicial, and educational activities at the national, state, and local levels.
