The FINANCIAL -- American Airlines Inc. will in January move its office overseeing its Pacific operations from Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward to Japan Airlines Corp.'s headquarters building in Shinagawa Ward, the U.S. carrier said September 2.
"The airlines, members of the oneworld alliance, plan to gradually integrate their Japan-U.S. flights, having obtained antitrust immunity from the Japanese and U.S. authorities in October," Nikkei informs.
Working out of the same building is expected to make it easier for them to collaborate.
The integrated service will start in late January, when American Airlines will launch a Tokyo-New York flight using Haneda Airport under a code-sharing agreement with JAL.
