The FINANCIAL -- Turkey's unemployment rate increased 0.6 percent to 13.4 percent in August 2009, Turkish Board of Statistics (TÜİK) said on November 16. 

Unemployment rate was 12.8 percent in July 2009, according to Today's Zaman.

According to the TÜİK's Household Labor Force Survey for August 2009, labor force participation rate was calculated as 49.3 percent.

Unemployment rate became 16.5 percent in urban areas and 7.4 percent in rural areas in August 2009.
