LG: New Bottom Freezer Featuring Linear Compressor Technology Raises Standart For European Kitchens

22/01/2010 17:09 (1214 Day 03:02 minutes ago)

The FINANCIAL -- LG Electronics (LG), an innovator and one of the leaders in home appliances, on January 22 debuted its latest 385-liter bottom freezer at the MAISON & OBJET 2010 (Paris Nord-Villepinte / Hall 7) in Paris.

The product makes optimal use of LG’s very latest compressor technology to maximize space and energy efficiency. By combining LG’s Linear Compressor technology with a smart inner structure, the new LG bottom freezer frees up approximately 50 liters more space compared with standard two meter tall bottom freezers. This allows consumers to store a greater amount of food in a more organized way and save time shopping for groceries.

"LG’s Linear Compressor technology enables its refrigerators to be industry leaders in energy savings, freshness, noise level, capacity and durability. The Linear Compressor efficiently controls cooling power and reduces internal friction to help the new bottom freezer achieve an A++ rating for energy consumption, making it up to 45 percent more efficient than a regular A-rated refrigerator. Changing from reciprocal to piston drive means energy savings of up to 20 percent with optimal efficiency. Fewer friction points (one instead of the four in a conventional compressor) work to significantly reduce noise levels while also enhancing the product’s durability, allowing LG to offer a 10 year warranty1 on refrigerators utilizing the Linear Compressor," LG informs.

LG refrigerators with Linear Compressor technology are on average more effective in maintaining a steady inner temperature than conventional refrigerators with the same capacity. The compressor’s slow speeds – maintained even under maximum cooling conditions – make for quieter refrigerators. And the Linear Compressor’s ability to maintain a more constant temperature keeps food fresher longer. The Linear Compressor also reduces CO2 emissions by up to 43KG a year. It’s another example of how LG is providing customers with a fresher, more nature-friendly option through improvements in energy efficiency, space and accessibility.

“In European countries, the kitchen more than just a place to eat. It has become the center of daily life for families to spend time together,” said Mr. Young-ha Lee, President and CEO of LG Electronics Home Appliance Company. “We developed our new bottom freezer refrigerator as kitchen furniture, not just another ‘white good’ and focused on harmonizing it with other appliances in the kitchen.”

The two-tone finish of the new bottom freezer adds a modern, simple and sophisticated look to the kitchen and seamlessly matches with other appliances. With a wide range of color options and finishes ranging from stainless steel, brushed steel, titanium and silver and white, LG’s new bottom freezer accentuates the classiness of today’s modern kitchen.

As Europe is one of the biggest markets for organic food, LG’s new bottom freezers perfectly complement consumers’ healthy lifestyles. Innovative preserving technology keeps foods fresher longer to draw the most natural and healthy taste from foods. With more than 35 percent of European consumers purchasing fresh meat every other day, LG’s refrigerators were designed to preserve meat’s texture and taste and maintain the original flavor of other foods longer.

What’s more, the new bottom freezer remains totally frost-free for a perfectly clean interior. The new refrigerator includes an Opti Temp Zone™ to optimize the temperature depending on food type. And LG’s Vita Light Zone -- approved by SLG Prüf- und Zertifizierungs GmbH, an officially recognized German body that tests and certifies electronic goods -- includes an internal LED light in order to retain vitamins and nutrients in vegetables and fruit. A special lattice-type box cover called Moist Balance Crisper maintains optimum moisture levels as well.

In addition to the features that enhance freshness, the new bottom freezer improves convenience and hygiene with its superb ice and water features. The refrigerator is designed to accommodate a bottled water dispenser without the need to clean and purify the water tank. Its Auto Ice Maker can also produce up to 0.9KG of ice per day without the need for external plumbing. LG’s exterior touch LED/LCD display makes messages more legible while strips of bright LED lighting inside the refrigerator make it easier to see items stored deep inside.
