Xerox to Extend Digital Leadership at IPEX 2010

09/02/2010 14:56 (732 Day 06:00 minutes ago)

The FINANCIAL -- On February 8 at the IPEX Media Summit, Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) demonstrated its leadership in the global digital production print) market by announcing several new deals with customers using Xerox technology and services to boost their bottom lines.

The company furthered this leadership position with a preview of IPEX announcements, including news about Xerox's first production inkjet system.

"The strategy behind adding inkjet to the Xerox portfolio is comparable to how automobile manufacturers offer cars powered by gas, diesel or electricity - each meets a different performance standard," said Eric Armour, president, Global Business Group, Xerox Corporation. "We delivered breakthrough toner-based color continuous feed solutions allowing new levels of cost, image quality and speed for transpromotional applications. Our new offering will meet similar requirements for those looking for an inkjet option."

At IPEX, the company will also show enhancements to the Xerox 650/1300 Continuous Feed Printing Systems, toner-based monochrome devices. These include heavy-weight media compatibility, running duplex applications up to 200 gsm and the FreeFlow Print Server 7 and ImageSmooth Technology, delivering unmatched image quality without slowing down the printer.

During the IPEX Media Summit, customers described how Xerox's digital technology and business development services have successfully opened up new revenue streams:

Cathedral Corporation (U.S.) - This service bureau is the first in the U.S. to install a Xerox 980 Color Continuous Feed System, addressing a growing demand for color and personalized transpromotional pieces. Xerox's continuous feed technology is meeting Cathedral's business needs in ways that high-speed inkjet solutions cannot, allowing Cathedral to produce highly targeted communications quickly and cost effectively.

"We evaluated a number of technology options, including the high-speed inkjet devices that are available today," said Marianne Gaige, president and CEO, Cathedral. "The image quality of the Xerox 980 system was far superior; our decision was easy."

EXPRES Printing (Romania) - Selling the value and quality of digital print is particularly challenging where the digital print market is considered uncharted territory. Graphic communications provider EXPRES Printing is leading the way in this developing market by installing the Xerox iGen4 Press, and the Xerox 700 Digital Color Press - and by joining Xerox's Graphic Arts Premier Partners Program.

"The technology investment is only part of the solution," said Dacian Badea, executive manager, EXPRES Printing. "Our partnership with Xerox - in terms of technology, business development and its FreeFlow Digital Workflow Collection - gives us a significant competitive advantage. This benefits our customers and, ultimately, our business."

Mediaware Digital (Ireland) - One of the first customers to install Xerox's Automated Packaging Solution powered by Stora Enso Gallop™, Mediaware is helping Microsoft Corporation bring Windows 7 to market faster.

"Given the worldwide distribution in multiple languages required for this project, we needed a solution that could produce different sized batches of the packaging with specialized information for different regions," said Ronan Phipps, director, business and strategy, Mediaware Digital. "We found this, and more, in the Xerox solution."
