"The Intel Itanium 9300 processor, formerly known as Tukwila, brings significantly increased performance along with a range of new reliability, scalability and virtualization features. By incorporating this processor into the next generation of HP Integrity servers, HP is positioned to deliver innovations in resiliency, flexibility and automation through a Converged Infrastructure," HP reported.

Combined with the advanced virtualization, business continuity and automation capabilities of the HP-UX 11i operating environment, the features of the new processor will allow customers to quickly address changing mission-critical demands to drive business growth.

HP customers Pella, Telefónica and Pirelli support Intel Itanium 9300

Leading companies around the world rely on HP Integrity servers for their most demanding mission-critical workloads.

When Pella Corporation, a leading manufacturer of window and doors, began experiencing rapid business growth and needed to increase production while maintaining business continuity, it turned to HP. Pella chose the HP Integrity platform to enhance the performance and availability of its critical manufacturing databases as well as meet its users’ needs for scalable, on-demand processing power.

“The HP Integrity Superdome server running HP-UX 11i allows Pella to easily scale to support our continued business growth while lowering the risk associated with seasonal demand,” said Jim Thomas, director, IT Operations, Pella. “We look forward to further innovations and enhancements to the HP Integrity platform that will allow us to realize even higher efficiency and boost our bottom line.”

Telecommunications giant Telefónica reached out to HP when it needed to radically grow its hosting business worldwide. Telefónica USA, the company’s subsidiary, selected HP Integrity servers with HP-UX 11i for its data center transformation in Miami.

“We upgraded our Miami data center to better meet the mission-critical demands of our rapidly growing business in Latin America and the United States,” said Victor Carreno, director, Engineering, Telefónica USA. “With HP Integrity and HP-UX 11i as the backbone of our infrastructure, we are able to provide highly resilient and secure services to our customers, while reducing our own data center costs and footprint.”

Pirelli, the world’s fifth-largest tire producer, also uses HP Integrity systems to drive its business. Pirelli depends on HP and Intel to provide the company with a highly available infrastructure to support its global operations and simplify management for IT staff. Pirelli has deployed the HP Integrity platform running HP-UX 11i and HP Serviceguard solutions to maintain continuous business operations for its production system.

“Pirelli offices worldwide rely on the technology infrastructure in our Milan headquarters to quickly meet changing production demands,” said Ezio Bombardelli, IT systems manager, Pirelli. “The HP Integrity Superdome system with HP’s own UNIX operating system provides advanced availability and management flexibility, allowing us to become an efficient 24/7/365 shop.”
