"The Galaxy S will be available on three different 3G standards, with China Telecom offering a CDMA2000 device (Model Name: SCH-I909), China Mobile providing a TD-SCDMA model (GT-I9008), and China Unicom marketing a WCDMA version (GT-I9088). Starting with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S for China Telecom this September, all three phones will be launched in the Chinese market this year," Samsung Electronics reported.

Samsung made the announcement today during a Galaxy S launch event at the China World Exhibition in Beijing. More than 300 guests including dealers and journalists attended the event hosted by JK Shin, President and Head of the Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

“China is one of the fastest growing mobile markets and offers great potential. I am very pleased to introduce Samsung Galaxy S, which has been customized for the needs of Chinese consumers. I hope that Chinese consumers will enjoy the real value of the smart mobile experience with Samsung Galaxy S,” said JK Shin.

Samsung continues to expand the reach of the Galaxy S around the world with the launch in the Chinese market. China’s appetite for smart devices makes it one of the hottest markets for mobile telephony. With the launch of the Galaxy S, Samsung is continuing to establish itself as a leader in smartphone technology.

The Galaxy S launch in China, spanning all three mobile carriers and supporting each 3G standard, shows the strong interest and appeal of the Galaxy S in the Chinese smartphone market.

The Galaxy S features a sleek design, a bright 4-inch Super AMOLED screen and a 1 GHz application processor, giving users an intelligent, immersive and integrated mobile experience. Samsung’s Galaxy S model for China Telecom has dual-standby, supporting both CDMA and GSM networks. The China Mobile device will incorporate the Chinese CMMB mobile TV service and is powered by the Ophone 2.0 platform.

The Galaxy S has been a phenomenal success in the global smart phone market, recording global sales of 3 million units including more than 1 million units each in Korea and the United States.
