The FINANCIAL -- The Party of the Regions' leader Viktor Yanukovych has called on Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, his opponent in the second round of the presidential elections, to recognize the result of the elections.
The press service of the Party of the Regions announced this in a statement.
According to Yanukovych, Tymoshenko risks transformation from the heroine of the "Orange revolution" to its executioner if she refuses to recognize the result of the elections and continues to push Ukraine toward political chaos.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, voting in the second round of the Ukrainian presidential elections ended at 20:00 on February 7, and the counting of votes began.
With 99.97% of the votes counted, Yanukovych has 48.96% and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has 45.47%.
