| Ukraine exported nearly 16.6 mln tonnes of grains |

The FINANCIAL -- From the beginning of 2009/10 MY (July 2009 – June 2010), and as of March 2, 2010, Ukraine exported nearly 16.6 mln tonnes of grains, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine .
According to the Ministry, the export volumes of grains, supplied on the foreign markets, exceeded the grain volumes of the same period of 2008/09 MY by 1.5%.
In the current MY, wheat exports totaled 7.67 mln tonnes as opposed to 8.42 mln tonnes during the same period of the last MY, barley exports – 4.53 mln tonnes as opposed to 5.25 mln tonnes, maize – 4.16 mln tonnes against 2.56 mln tonnes.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy also informed that during the period from July 1, 2009, to March 2, 2010, Ukraine exported 1.65 mln tonnes of rapeseed, as opposed to 2.47 mln tonnes in the same period of the last MY.
As a reminder, at the beginning of February, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy increased own forecast of grain exports from Ukraine in 2009/10 MY from 20 mln tonnes to the level of 22 mln tonnes.
At the same time, from the beginning of the current year, Ukraine decreased the export volumes due to the problems with replenishment of the VAT to grain traders and the reduction of the world prices for grains.
According to preliminary data of the State Committee of Statistics, in 2009, Ukraine produced 46 mln tonnes of grains and leguminous plants in clean weight, down 13.7% compared to 2008 index.
