The FINANCIAL -- The EBRD has appointed Fernando Pons its new Vice President, Human Resources, Corporate Services and Chief Administrative Officer. The Vice President is a member of the Executive Committee, the Bank’s most senior management committee.
In his position, Mr Pons will have overall responsibility for the formulation, coordination and implementation of the Bank’s strategy and policies for human resources, information technology, administrative services and corporate procurement. As part of an integrated management team he will work towards delivering the Bank’s Strategic Capital Framework and the Strategic Implementation Plan, according to EBRD.
Mr Pons has more than 20 years international experience in organisational transformation, business process re-engineering and advanced analytics. Most recently he was Head of Service Management at Rio Tinto mining company where he led a global business processes transformation programme. He has also worked for Merck, a pharmaceutical, chemical and life sciences company, where he held various leadership positions, and earlier in his career for Exxon Mobile and ED&F Man in London.

In his role he will play a leading part in the continued strengthening of our already very effective Bank so that we continue to deliver for our clients, shareholders and staff.”
Fernando Pons graduated from San Pablo CEU University of Madrid in Economics and Business Management and from Beckett University of Leeds in European Business Management. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration, Executive MBA from Instituto de Empresa and Advanced Management Degree, PADE from IESE, Spanish business schools. He completed a Postgraduate Research Degree (DEA) on Applied Economics at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. He has also studied at UCLA Anderson School of Management and at “Real Colegio Complutense” at Harvard Business School.
