Georgia/Russian Federation: The impact of the war one year on

The FINANCIAL -- One year after the war between Georgia and the Russian Federation, thousands of civilians remain stranded away from their homes with little prospect of return in the near future. They, and many of those who have managed to go back, face a future of insecurity, Amnesty International said in a report published on August 6.

The FINANCIAL -- Seventy-three per cent of construction companies in Ukraine expect a decrease in construction in 2009, according to The Ukraine Construction Qualitative Study 2009, based on 47 face-to-face interviews with representatives of construction companies doing business in Ukraine .. Thirty-six per cent of respondents expect the sector to fall by more than 20%. In general, sales are expected to fall in 2009. Research reveals that increase in sales could come during the 2010-2011 period.

Report financed by the international funds say global financial crisis contains more than enough risks for Georgia to experience serious problems with respect to maintaining economic well-being.
The FINANCIAL (via finchannel.com) -- Report prepared by the experts of Open Society - Georgia Foundation and the Economic Policy Research Center criticizes economical policy of Georgian Government and its Strategy for Protection from Global Economic Crisis. Report says “it does not address necessary requirements of a strategic document”. Authors of the report say the global financial crisis contains more than enough risks for Georgia to experience serious problems with respect to maintaining economic well-being.
