ADB President Haruhiko Kuroda to Visit Georgia

The FINANCIAL -- The President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Mr. Haruhiko Kuroda, will visit Georgia on Wednesday, 19 November.

In Tbilisi , Mr. Kuroda will meet with Georgia’s Prime Minister, Grigol Mgaloblishvili, and with the Minister of Finance and ADB Governor, Mr. Nika Gilauri.


The Asian Development Bank is a multilateral development bank, owned by 67 member countries. ADB’s main instruments for developing its member countries are policy dialogue, loans, equity investments, guarantees, grants and technical assistance. This year ADB adopted Strategy 2020, a long-term strategic framework that follows three complementary strategic agendas: inclusive growth, environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration.


Georgia joined the ADB in 2007.


“Georgia has faced recent difficulties, including coming out of the global economic turmoil,” Mr. Haruhiko Kuroda said. “ADB and other international agencies are confident that Georgia will deal effectively with all its economic challenges.”


During this visit, Mr. Kuroda will sign an Emergency Assistance loan from ADB.
