The FINANCIAL -- In February 2010 the volume of money transfers from abroad constituted 61.7 million USD, which is 9.4 million USD or 17.9 percent more than the same amount for February 2009.
During this period the volume of remittances significantly grew for Russia (by 5.6 million), Greece (by 1.2 million) and Ukraine (by 0.8 million), as well as for several other countries.
"88.1 percent of total money transfers from abroad fall on those seven big donor countries, from which the volume of such transfers exceeded 1 million USD in February. In February 2009 the share of these 7 countries constituted 87.3 percent of the total volume of money transfers," NBG reported.
In February 2010 5.6 million USD were transferred from Georgia, instead of 5.5 million USD in February 2009.
