Moscow Eurovision ends in fairytale win for Norway

The FINANCIAL -- According to Ria Novosti, the glitzy Eurovision final came to a close early on May 17 at MOSCOW 's Olympiysky Arena with Norway and the song Fairytale, performed by Alexander Rybak, proving to be the runaway winner.

The hotly tipped 23-year-old violin-playing singer, who was born in Belarus, but grew up outside Oslo received a record 387 votes, more than any other previous Eurovision winner.

 

Outsider Yohanna from Iceland was second with her song Is it True, while the catchy Azerbaijani entry, performed by Aysel and Arash, was a close third.

 

A total of 42 countries voted for the 25 songs with the voting being kicked off by astronauts on the International Space Station.
