The FINANCIAL -- In recent months, the German online market for journalistic content has developed dynamically.

A number of providers have recognised the potential and presented text portals. DieRedaktion, Deutsche Post’s journalists’ platform, and Spredder as a major player in this new market will in future to pool their expertise for the benefit of all journalists.

‘Our common goal is to connect journalists, editors and publishers. We are thus promoting quality journalism as a piece of German culture’, explained Hajo Schumacher, founder of Spredder.

Lutz Glandt, Member of divisional board MAIL at Deutsche Post and Head of Press Services: ‘we look forward to the journalists who are now coming to us with Spredder. This is another important contribution to expanding our promise to buyers and sellers because our platform stands for quality journalism, not only on the internet but also via all communication channels’.

Spredder will in future offer its members the opportunity to purchase and sell articles via DieRedaktion.de. Authors will be able to export their profiles and articles from Spredder’s system and import them into DieRedaktion. As with Spredder, in DieRedaktion’s system authors market their journalistic texts but they can now also accept advertised editorial jobs.

The Spredder-founders Dr Hajo Schumacher and Sebastian Esser will accompany the journalism platform as independent consultants. Their goal is to bring DieRedaktion and Spredder, as fair and transparent partners, closer to all journalists, to ensure journalistic standards and to develop the offer dynamically.

DieRedaktion.de, with which Mr Schumacher and Mr Esser are now working, was launched in March at Cebit in Hanover. Nearly 1,600 journalists from all subjects have already registered there. On the demand side the Axel Springer Verlag publishing house is amongst the first customers. However, many companies and organisations also use the portal to award contracts to qualified journalists. The German Journalists Association DJV, the industry’s largest organisation in Europe, is a partner of the journalists’ platform.
