The RBS team were collecting for The Brick Homeless Shelter in Wigan. The shelter is making a massive difference to the local community and the RBS team wanted to do their bit to support its efforts.

Led by Simone Barker, RBS Regional Director in the North West, the seven-strong team of local senior managers took it upon themselves to collect food donated at the 34 RBS branches across the North West region. The food will help The Brick in their efforts, providing not only a drop in but also food hampers for people who are struggling with debt or loss of income. The charity provides help and support to individuals who have had a direct experience of homelessness and rough sleeping, or problems relating to those issues and also supports people to maintain their tenancies.

Simone Barker, Regional Director for RBS in the North West, said: "We wanted to do something to help as The Brick makes such a valuable contribution in our community. It's a sobering thought that there are many people who simply cannot afford to put food on the table and who rely on the Brick to ease the pressure. We want to thank all customers and staff who got involved or made a donation - we had a superb result and fun along the way!"

Trish from The Brick, said: "We were completely bowled over by the sheer amount of food donated and by everyone's generosity. We have been helping people for the last 3 years and our shelves do get empty at times. Thanks to RBS's efforts we will be able to help so many more people this year. Thank you so much to all who gave so generously."
