The FINANCIAL -- Total volume of deposits in the country’s banking sector (including term deposits and current accounts of non-financial and households sectors, including payable interest) increased by 2.2 percent or 74.7 million GEL compared to the previous month and exceeded 3.5 billion GEL by February 1, 2010.
In January, the volume of term deposits of non-financial and households sectors increased by 75.0 million GEL or 3.6 percent compared to the previous month.
"The dollarization ratio of deposits increased by 1.0 percentage points compared to the figure for January 1, 2010 and amounted to 74.5 percent by February 1, 2010. In January the annual average weighted interest rate for all deposits amounted to 8.9 percent, in particular, the interest rate for national currency denominated deposits was 10.9 percent and the interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits was 8.6 percent," NBG reported.
The share of US dollar in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals to 76.2 percent and the share of Euro equals to 22.9 percent.
