The FINANCIAL -- McKesson Practice Care™, launched today, provides patient-centered medical home consulting and a host of other services and tools specifically developed to revitalize the small independent primary care practice.
While primary care practices can play a critical role in reducing healthcare costs and improving quality, many need help to manage operational costs and optimize income opportunities without losing their independence. McKesson Practice Care and McKesson Practice Choice™, also announced today, were created to address these needs. McKesson Practice Care offers a unique combination of consulting services and financial tools to optimize clinical and financial performance. A key highlight of the core offering is PCMH consulting through TransforMED, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Nationally recognized for transforming primary care practices, TransforMED uses an innovative process of practice redesign focused on patient care and practice team satisfaction. “The PCMH model continues to gain momentum due to its high standard of care quality and the opportunity to be financially rewarded,” said Dr. Terry McGeeney, president and CEO, TransforMED. “We are pleased to support McKesson in this significant new offering because we believe the company has a deep appreciation for the needs of today’s primary care practice.” The new McKesson Practice Care service is offered exclusively to users of McKesson’s physician practice EHR solutions, Practice Partner, Medisoft Clinical, Lytec MD and McKesson Practice Choice™. In addition to PCMH consulting, each provider that signs up for McKesson Practice Care also will be assigned a Practice Care Account Manager that will leverage an extensive healthcare background to help coordinate practice activities and provide assistance with education and issue resolution. Optional services and solutions include online patient collection tools, automated patient reminder services, medical and office supplies and practice-based quality improvement reports. Practices may also choose to use McKesson’s Lynx TotalView™ to support higher reimbursement accuracy from payers and to provide tools for claims and registry-based PQRS reporting and eRx reporting through the CMS Incentive Programs. Yet another option is supply inventory control and preferred pricing with McKesson’s Medical Surgical division. “With industry pressures due to increased hospital ownership and healthcare costs, there’s a great need to equip smaller practices not only with technology but also with the support to help them maintain their financial vitality,” said David Henriksen, senior vice president, McKesson Physician Practice Solutions. “The independent practice must be considered a critical part of the long - term, broader healthcare solution. The real value of McKesson Practice Care is to offer those providers more time to focus on patient care while contributing to the business health of the practice.” The offering is part of McKesson’s complete portfolio of physician solutions, designed to reduce time spent on administrative tasks and help meet the needs of running a modern practice. Also announced today is the new McKesson Practice Choice™ solution, a fully-integrated, Web-based EHR and practice management system that offers an affordable, easy - to - use and modern alternative for the independent primary care practice.
