Dr. Emad Rizk Named One of Nation's “50 Most Influential Physician Executives in Healthcare”

The FINANCIAL -- Emad Rizk, MD , president of McKesson Health Solutions, has been named among the nation’s “50 Most Influential Physician Executives in Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician magazines.

This is Dr. Rizk’s fourth consecutive year to be recognized by this program. The 50 Most Influential Physician Executives list was compiled from 11,700 nominations, with results appearing online and in edition of Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician .

“Being named to this list for the fourth consecutive year is recognition of Emad’s leadership, working to align healthcare stakeholders and automate and simplify core business and clinical processes, which is so critical in this era of reform,” said John Hammergren, chairman and chief executive officer, McKesson Corporation. “Emad works across our company and our industry with a goal of improving the clinical and financial health of the entire system while addressing some of healthcare’s most complex issues around care delivery and payment reforms.”

“I am truly honored to be recognized for my efforts to bring about meaningful change in this industry through the use of innovative approaches and technology,” said Dr. Rizk. “As we embark upon a more collaborative era in healthcare, I look forward to continuing the work of bringing together providers and payers to reduce administrative costs, improve quality, optimize networks and better manage risks and medical costs.”

Dr. Rizk has also been named among the “Top 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare” for several years. He serves on boards of numerous healthcare organizations including the National Quality Review, The Care Continuum Alliance, and the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, and he is a senior scholar professor at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. His most recent book, “ The New Era of Healthcare: Practical Strategies for Providers and Payers,” is focused on actionable methods for forging partnerships between providers and payers to bring about more efficient, cost-effective care and create a healthier healthcare system.
