The FINANCIAL -- SAN FRANCISCO, July 28, 2011 – Trulia.com, a leading site for real
estate professionals, homebuyers and sellers, today announced the launch
of Trulia Social Search, a new social recommendation engine that
digitizes word-of-mouth referrals for the real estate industry.
Trulia Social Search brings the verbal endorsement of a preferred agent to Trulia and Facebook, helping consumers discover trusted real estate professionals by searching their Facebook social network for agents and brokers their family, friends and acquaintances recommend.
“Finding a reputable agent is one of the most critical parts of the home search process that consumers face. Trulia Social Search equips buyers and sellers with an extraordinary way of discovering local agents that their friends and family know and trust,” Pete Flint, CEO and Founder of Trulia. “Consumers prefer endorsements from a family member or a friend over anonymous reviews or ratings. Agents can now utilize happy clients and gain referrals from their network whether consumers are searching through Trulia’s Find a Pro directory or through Facebook News Feed.”
Trulia Social Search allows consumers to recommend their agent on Trulia and Facebook simultaneously. These agent endorsements help build a personalized list of recommended agents for every consumer as they search Trulia’s Find a Pro directory by leveraging the shared Facebook social graph and surfacing known connections. Agents with more recommendations in Trulia’s Social Search index have a better chance of generating word-of-mouth referrals from their clients’ combined social spheres. Recommendations are also published to the agent’s Trulia profile, consumer’s Facebook profiles and their friend’s Facebook News Feeds.
“Real estate professionals have long since cited word-of-mouth and referrals as one of their primary sources of business. Trulia Social Search provides a more efficient way for agents to receive digital referrals from their clients, maximizing their reach with each recommendation they receive,” said Georg Gerstenfeld, SVP of Business Services at Trulia. “Real estate professionals looking to boost their ranking in Trulia’s Social Search index should begin by asking their clients to submit recommendations on Trulia today. Every recommendation an agent receives on Trulia exponentially increases the opportunity for an agent to meet a new buyer or seller through their clients combined social networks.”
