The FINANCIAL -- US chef and barbecue enthusiast Adam Perry Lang, who together with Jamie Oliver opened Barbecoa in the City of London, has stepped back from the restaurant, according to Hotelkeeper Magazine.

Perry Lang has resigned as director of Barby, the holding business which owns the restaurant at the One New Change development next to St Paul's Cathedral.

However, the chef, who will now focus on his existing ventures in the USA, including his Daisy May's BBQ restaurant in New York, remains a shareholder within the business.

Meanwhile, Jamie Oliver is planning to launch his high-street restaurant chain Jamie's Italian in North America.

The celebrity chef, who has already expanded the concept to the Middle East and Australia, confirmed he intends to take the brand across the Atlantic, although no specific plans are yet in place.
