£1 pub meal offer landlord calls time on business

The FINANCIAL -- The licensee at a pub famed for offering meals for £1 looks set to call time on the business, according to Caterer and Hotelkeeper.

Tony Rabbitts is quitting the the Four Crosses on the A5 near Cannock in Staffordshire because he has been unable to make the business profitable despite its headline-grabbing offers.

The pub started offering £1 dinners in 2008, and was selling Christmas dinners for £1.99.

But running the pub is regularly costing £800 a week, according to the Daily Mail.
