The FINANCIAL -- Jamie
Oliver is to open the first non-London branch of his new restaurant
concept, Union Jacks, in Winchester in the summer.
According to Caterer and Hotelkeeper, the celebrity chef, who launched the British-influenced restaurant group at the Central St Giles development in London's West End last November, has taken over a high-street site in the Hampshire city.
It will be the third Union Jacks, with a second restaurant in Chiswick, west London, opening next month on the former site of the French Kitchen.
A spokeswoman for Jamie Oliver said: "Winchester is a beautiful city and we feel we've found a fantastic site for the restaurant. We have had some great feedback from the first Union Jacks in London and so hopefully we can bring something really special to the city."
Oliver launched Union Jacks together with US chef Chris Bianco. The menu is centred on flatbreads and wood-fired cooking methods, with the majority of ingredients sourced from within Britain.
