The FINANCIAL -- High-flying romantics could
enjoy the ultimate Valentines dinner date courtesy of British Airways.
According to British Airways, the airline is inviting couples to bid in a charity auction for the chance to be wined and dined on board the world’s most iconic aircraft – without even leaving the ground.
The highest bidder will win a romantic dinner for two on board the British Airways flagship Concorde G-BOAC at Manchester Airport ’s Runway Visitor Park on February 14.
The couple will receive red carpet treatment from the steps of Concorde to their very exclusive table for two in the main cabin. Surrounded by fairy lights and flower petals they will be served a three-course dinner, created by a top chef, with a bottle of champagne to celebrate Valentines Day – and maybe even a marriage proposal!
All proceeds from the auction will go to Flying Start, British Airways’ global charity partnership with Comic Relief whose aim is to raise money to help children living incredibly tough lives in the UK and around the world.
The auction was launched this week by Cheshire toastmaster Ian Parrott, who actually flew to New York on Concorde twice during a previous career.
Anyone is welcome to bid for the ultimate Valentine dinner on Concorde in the e-mail auction. The prize will be awarded to the highest bidder and there is a reserve price of £500. All proceeds from the auction will go to Flying Start. The auction closes on Sunday, February 12 at midnight and the winner will be notified on Monday February 13.
Love is also in the air at Gatwick where chocolates will be given out to customers on outbound flights on February 14, and as it’s a leap year British Airways is also offering ladies the chance to propose on board on February 29. Every brave lady who takes the four-yearly opportunity to make a marriage proposal will be entered into a prize draw. She can win a pair of tickets to one of the many British Airways European destinations served from Gatwick Airport .
