A campaign by the FoodCycle Café in Haringey, powered by crowdfunding website Peoplefund.it and supported by celebrities, MPs and Twitter, reached its £5,000 target this week.

The funds will ensure that the café, which uses food headed for landfill to create a 'pay what you can' healthy eating lunch offer every Friday, can stay open for another 12 months.

The cash was raised as part of a week-long Twitter campaign that saw more than 270 people donate a total of £5,047.

Local MP Lynne Featherstone and Thom from Channel 4's Three Hungry Boys visited the café to show their support.
