According to Caterer and Hotelkeeper, created by Darren Kutty, formerly head chef of both the Ramada Hyde Park and the Washington hotel in Mayfair, Umami will offer a menu of small and sharing plates with influences from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Korea.

The interior design is by Roy Kirby of the Design Coaliton Partnerships who worked with a feng shui master selected by the restaurant's Singaporean owners.

Tapas style dishes will include chicken satay and Thai fishcakes alongside the likes of sweet basil, garlic and peppercorn tossed squid.

The menu will also include a selection of salads, soups, noodles and curries together with grilled and pan- or wok-fried dishes such as like ped makham and ikanbBakar.

There will also be set Malaysian and Thai menus, as well as an Asian tasting menu, which will include Malaysian beef rendang, Indonesian curry and Vietnamese spring rolls.

Umami will open on 14 March for lunch Monday to Friday from 12pm to 3pm and for dinner Monday to Sunday from 5pm to 10.30pm.
