The FINANCIAL -- Britannia Hotels has
purchased the 103-bedroom Ramada Hotel Leeds North out of administration
for an undisclosed sum.
According to Caterer and Hotelkeeper, it will be renamed as the Britannia Leeds hotel and become be the 38th hotel to be added to the privately owned portfolio of hotels, run by Alex Langsam.
The property, which incorporates the shell of the old Seacroft Windmill, was put on the market by Begbies Traynor, the administrators of Millgreen View Securities, in October 2011. Employing 42 staff, it has a 78-cover restaurant and banqueting facilities for up to 340.
Langsam said his company intended to refurbish the hotel and add extra bedrooms. "We look forward to welcoming guests and feel sure they will appreciate the improvements taking place," he added.
The sale of the property was handled by Jones Lang LaSalle.
