Russia's swine flu death toll rises to 19

The FINANCIAL -- According to RIA Novosti, Russia's swine flu death toll has risen to 19, the country's sanitary and consumer rights watchdog said on its website on November 6.

"A total of 19 fatal cases have been registered - 14 of them have been confirmed," Rospotrebnadzor said.

 

As of November 2, 2009, the A/H1N1 virus had been confirmed in 3,122 cases in Russia. Most cases have been registered in MOSCOW , Siberia's Krasnoyarsk and the Trans-Baikal regions.

 

Rospotrebnadzor also said, citing data from World Health Organization regional bureaus, that over 442,000 people have contracted the virus worldwide, with 6,051 fatalities as of November 2.
