The FINANCIAL -- At least 25 people have been killed and over 100 injured by two subsequent blasts in Pakistan's financial capital, Karachi, local media reported on February 6, according to RIA Novosti.

On February 5 afternoon, a suicide bomber driving a motorbike, rammed a bus, carrying some 40 people who were to join a religious procession. A total of 13 people were killed and dozens injured, Pakistan's English-language paper, The Nation, said.

The second blast took place two hours later in front of the hospital's emergency unit where those injured in the first attack were being treated. At least 12 people died as a result.

Sources in a bomb disposal squad told the paper that the second bomber, who was also riding a motorbike, had a suicide jacket stuffed with up to 20 kg of explosives.

The second blast caused panic in the hospital, Pakistan's Dawn newspaper said.

"Community workers as well as ambulance staff, mostly belonging to various non-governmental and social organizations, rushed inside the emergency section, carrying the bodies of the latest victims and the wounded. But there was nobody to receive them even in the resuscitation room of the emergency, which was damaged in the blast," it said.

The Dawn put the number of those injured in the two blasts at 133.

A third bomb that did not detonate was recovered on the premises of the hospital later in the day, the Geo TV said.
