The FINANCIAL -- TALLINN. Leading Estonian newspapers carried blank pages on March 18 in protest against what they say is a crackdown on press freedoms, national media reported.
A new draft law introduced by the Ministry of Justice obliges papers to reveal their sources if the information is requested by the authorities.
Journalists who refuse to give up their sources will face fines or prison terms.
The Estonian papers Postimees, Eesti Paevaleht, Ohtuleht, Eesti Eskspress and Maaleht took part in the protest.
