Washington,  DC  -  3 May 2007 -  Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) will offer travelers to the greater Shanghai region a choice of accommodations in 15 hotels by the end of 2009 with the opening of the 330-room  JW Marriott Hotel Hangzhou and the 330-room  Courtyard by Marriott Hangzhou City Center in 2008.

Both hotels are entering Marriott’s portfolio under a management agreement with Hangzhou Wulin Real Estate Co., Ltd.  They will be part of an 80,000-square-meter complex located in the heart of the city’s central business district. The hotels will be connected by a palladium that will house conference space, restaurants and lounges, and other public facilities.

Hangzhou is an attractive business and leisure destination. In addition to Hangzhou’s dynamic business environment, the city is a well-known weekend getaway and vacation-home destination for residents in the Greater Shanghai Region. The city features 11 major tourist attractions, including the famous West Lake. Rich in history, culture and natural resources, the city is one of China’s top leisure destinations for both domestic and international tourists.
