Commodus – “Everything for the home”

Commodus – “Everything for the home”

The FINaNCIAL -- The story of Commodus began three years ago when three friends, Irina Mujiri, Gabriel Shanshiashvili and Tamar Gegeshidze, came together over a shared idea. They wanted to create a space where customers could access ‘everything for the home’ and also get architectural services.

At Commodus you can also get home furnishings – handmade ceramic products as well as everyday utensils, interior design and architectural services.

The FINANCIAL talked with Irina Mujiri, who shared how Commodus products are made and talked about the company’s development prospects.

Q. What do customers need to know about Commodus?

A. Commodus offers a full range of architectural services: from exterior to exquisite interior details. Our company also produces corporate gifts in unlimited quantities and unique and original dishes for café-restaurants.

Q. What is your inspiration while working on different items?

Inspiration is an eternal problem when it comes to searching for gifts. We provide our customers with items that are not only for decoration but are also practical and, most importantly, affordable.

Q. According to your observation, what is the most popular product in the field of interior design or décor?

A. According to the different tastes and desires of buyers, they all prefer different accessories. Everyone wants to create comfort and cosiness, which is not a problem for us. We study the market, track consumer interests, the frequency of sales, and accordingly create brand-new design decor accessories.

Q. How do you create your works?

A. The company Commodus has two locations: a design shop and a factory, where our ceramic products are created by select individuals. First the molds are made on a special machine then they are fired in the oven. All of the ceramic products are entirely made by hand. The wooden and metal furniture is made by artisans through a variety of machines in our factory, and the textiles are by Collodus and other designers.

Q. What’s next for Commodus?

A. Due to the high demand we are receiving, we are currently working to expand production. Also, we plan to establish production courses next year. We are trying to make our products more accessible to everyone, so we plan to appear in different shopping centres in the future.

Q. Where can one currently shop for Commodus products?

A. Commodus products can be bought as well as individually ordered at I. Abashidze Street #40 in Tbilisi. As for the architectural part, since the establishment of Commodus, we have been working together on an individual residential project for the first time, and we hope that the Commodus service will become more widely known and demanded in this field as a result.
