The FINANCIAL -- London Business School (LBS) alumnus Niels Buus has been nominated for Leader of the Year in Denmark.
The CEO of GomSpace, which develops nanosatellites for radio-based communications and surveillance, received the nomination for the award which recognises the nation’s top business person, according to London Business School.
When urging people to vote for Buus, spokespeople at GomSpace said he was a “dedicated, inspirational and hard-working” chief executive who had taken the company to new heights. He was also described as a “daily source of inspiration to employees, leaders and the space industry”.
Under Buus, GomSpace has grown from 30 to 150 employees in less than a year, moved into new headquarters and opened new offices in Singapore, the US and Luxembourg. Since joining Nasdaq in June 2016, the company’s share price has soared by 700%.
Buus gained a Sloan Masters in Leadership and Strategy from LBS in 1994. He has since run his own consulting firm, Longbus Business Development, and held several board positions with SystemTeknik, the Danish National Space Center, DSE Airport Solutions and ISIC. Buus has also chaired Chora Group and iDoc Engineering.
