The FINANCIAL -- According to Georgian news agency "Pirveli", the penitentiary department of the ministry of justice opens new prison in the district of Gldani, Tbilisi.
The construction was totally financed from the state budget and the new prison meets international standards. It has a cafe, shower-room and the ground for inmates to walk.
The building is equipped with central heating and ventilation system. The prison is designated for 4,000 inmates. Each cell has six and eight places.
The construction was launched in July 2006 and it took 5 million lari, though the state budget first allocated 8 millions.
The staff of the prison was selected via tests.
