The FINANCIAL -- The delegations of the Georgian agencies involved in the implementation process of the EU-Georgia Visa Liberalisation Action Plan (VLAP) led by Deputy Foreign Minister Gigi Gigiadze paid a visit to Vienna, according to MFA Georgia.
The aim of the visit was to provide respective agencies of the EU Member States with comprehensive information regarding the reforms and progress that Georgia has made during the implementation of the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan (VLAP) and to secure their due support.
At a meeting with representatives of the Federal Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Austria, the visa liberalisation process between Georgia and the European Union and the progress Georgia has achieved in this direction were discussed.
The Georgian delegation informed the Austrian side in detail on the legislative and institutional reforms carried out in certain directions in compliance with the VLAP requirements and the EU standards. Special attention was paid to the measures taken by the Government of Georgia with regard to migration management, fight against the organised crime, personal data protection, security of documents and fight against discrimination.
A meeting was held with Secretary General of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs Michael Linhart. The Austrian side gave a positive assessment to the progress Georgia has made in the VLAP implementation process and pledged to further support Georgia in the European integration process. Procedures relating to the ratification of the Association Agreement, as well as the ways of the further strengthening of bilateral cooperation were also discussed during the meetings.
The Georgian delegation included Director of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Shalva Kvinikhidze, Director of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ivane Papiashvili, Executive Secretary of the State Commission on Migration Issues Giorgi Jashi, Deputy Head of the Public Service Development Agency at the Ministry of Justice Mamuka Samkharadze.
