The Georgian Foreign Minister has met the Director General of the European Commission's Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs

The FINANCIAL -- On 6 May 2015, a meeting between Georgian Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili and Director General of the European Commission's Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs Matthias Ruete was held in Brussels, according to MFA Georgia.

Matthias Ruete was provided with the updated information on the current reforms and progress Georgia has achieved in terms of implementation of the EU-Georgia Visa Liberalisation Action Plan, including the measures carried out by Georgia on the basis of the experts’ recommendations following the EU evaluation missions (December 2014 – March 2015).
 
Tamar Beruchashvili and Matthias Ruete discussed the European Commission's draft third report, which will be issued during the second week of May 2015. The Georgian Foreign Minister asked the Director General to adequately reflect Georgia’s achievements in the European Commission’s report and to support the issue of timely completion of implementation of the EU-Georgia Visa Liberalisation Action Plan.
 
Tamar Beruchashvili and Matthias Ruete also focused on Georgia’s expectations for the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga on 21-22 May 2015. The Georgian Minister underlined the importance of acknowledging Georgia’s achievements in the Action Plan implementation process.
