Fifth round of bilateral political consultations have been held between the Foreign Ministries of Georgia and Israel

The FINANCIAL -- On 7 May 2015, the fifth round of bilateral political consultations was held between the Georgian and Israeli Ministries of Foreign Affairs, according to MFA Georgia.

Deputy Foreign Minister Davit Jalaghania headed the Georgian delegation, whilst the Israeli delegation was led by the Israeli Foreign Ministry's Deputy Director-General Zvi Rav-Ner.
 
Within the framework of the consultations, the sides discussed a wide range of issues on the agenda of co-operation between Georgia and the State of Israel emphasizing  the heightened level of co-operation between the two countries in such areas as trade, economy, investments, culture, education, agriculture, tourism, others.  Special mention was made of the increased dynamics in the exchange of high-level visits, as well as in the development of the legislative framework.  Within the framework of the consultations, the sides outlined plans for the further development of relations in bilateral and multilateral formats.
 
The Georgian side provided the Israeli delegation with information regarding the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, Geneva Discussions and the signature of the so-called treaties between Russia and the occupation regimes of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region. The Israeli delegation reaffirmed their government’s firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.  
 
The sides also focused on the security challenges facing the Middle East and the world as a whole, various asymmetric threats and their impact on the security environment.
 
Political consultations between Georgia and Israel have acquired a regular character contributing to the further development of co-operation between the two countries in various areas.
