The FINANCIAL -- On June 1, Irma Kavtaradze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia participated in awarding ceremony of innovation vouchers of small and medium-sized enterprises and in brokerage event. Deputy Minister gave a welcoming speech to the participants of the event.
The brokerage event and working meeting was held within the framework of the project - ener2i, with the organization of Energy Efficiency Centre Georgia (EEC). Besides, the event was held through the cooperation with the Georgian Technical University and Energy Efficiency Centre Georgia within the framework of SECURE R2I and Innover-East projects. The mentioned projects were financed by EU in accordance with the seventh framework program.
Manfred Spiesberger, representative of the Centre for Social Innovation and Giorgi Abulashvili, the director at the Energy Efficiency Centre Georgia also welcomed the participants of the event, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
According to Irma Kavtaradze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the Georgian Government identified innovation development as one of the priorities. As she mentioned, two legal entities of public law – Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency and Entrepreneurship Development Agency have been created. They are focused on implementing and developing innovative ideas. Irma Kavtaradze also discussed the importance of energy efficiency in building, transport, enterprise and other sectors.
After the official welcoming speeches, Irma Kavtaradze participated in awarding ceremony of the six projects winners of the innovation vouchers competition.
The competition was aimed at financing of innovative projects in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency through financial support at the earlier stage of project development.
After the awarding ceremony brokerage event was held. It has covered face2face meetings and the so-called Networking. At the end of the brokerage event, the discussion of the national research, that was dedicated to the issues regarding the energy and economy and prepared within the framework of INNOVER-EAST project, was conducted.
