The FINANCIAL — The Georgian Foreign Ministry prepared the Second Quarterly Report on the Human Rights Situation in the Occupied Regions of Georgia. The Report covers the period from April to June 2015.
The present Report was prepared in coordination with various government agencies of Georgia, in the English language, based on open and public sources of information. The aim of the Report is to keep the international community, whether foreign governments or international organisations, up-do-date on the human rights situation in Georgia’s occupied territories in order to ensure that the international community reacts more actively on human rights violations, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
Gross violations of human rights, including torture and inhuman treatment, illegal detention, restriction of free movement and mass infringement of property rights and the right to receive education in the native language continue to be reported from the occupied territories. The installation of barbed wire fences across the occupation line has added to the gravity of the otherwise tense situation.
