Giorgi Kvirikashvili has met newly appointed Ambassador of the United States to Georgia Ian Kelly

The FINANCIAL -- On 17 September 2015, Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili held an introductory meeting with newly appointed Ambassador of the United States to Georgia Ian Kelly, according to MFA Georgia.

Discussions focused on the ongoing co-operation within the framework of strategic partnership between the two countries and prospects for its further development. Special attention was paid to the importance of strengthening economic and trade links between Georgia and the U.S. and the necessity of continuing the high-level dialogue on trade and investment-related issues.

The Georgian Foreign Minister and the U.S. Ambassador discussed a range of important events due to take place in the coming days, including the UN General Assembly and the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum. The importance of Georgia’s geostrategic location in terms of regional projects was also emphasized during the meeting.

The sides discussed security issues and Russia’s recent activities in the occupied territories as well.

Ian Kelly reaffirmed the U.S. government’s firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, European and Euro-Atlantic integration, democratic reforms and economic projects.
