Giorgi Kvirikashvili has congratulated the Hungarian people on the 59th anniversary of freedom fight

The FINANCIAL -- On 21 October 2015, the Embassy of Hungary in Georgia hosted a ceremonial reception commemorating the 59th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution and freedom fight of 1956, which was attended by Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, by representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia and by Georgian politicians.  

 The reception began with the performance of the national anthems of Georgia and Hungary. Hungarian Ambassador Sándor Szabó addressed the invited guests and thanked them for attending the ceremonial event, according to MFA of Georgia.

In his speech the Ambassador focused on the anti-Soviet revolution, which took place in Hungary in 1956, and underlined that the historical experience and relationship between Georgian and Hungarian people facilitate enhancement of political, economic and cultural relations between Georgia and Hungary. Sándor Szabó reaffirmed Hungary’s unequivocal support for Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili also addressed the attending audience, congratulating the Hungarian Government and people on anniversary of freedom and independence fight and underlining the existing strong friendly relations between the two countries.     

“Hungary is Georgia’s reliable and strong partner in supporting our country’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, which is of particular strategic importance for Georgian Government and Georgian people”, Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted.
