The FINANCIAL -- In 2015/16 MY, the general harvest of oilseeds in Ukraine will reach 17.195 mln tonnes, an increase of 6.3% compared with the index in 2014/15 MY (16.172 mln tonnes), announced the association Ukroliyaprom on June 2.
In particular, the soybean production will increase to 4.4 mln tonnes (up 13.7%), sunflower seed - 4.4 mln tonnes (up 4%, or against 3.871 mln tonnes last season), rapeseed - 1.05 mln tonnes (up 4.4%, or against 1.01 mln tonnes).
Also, calculations of the harvest volumes of sunflower seed cover the significant share of planted areas located in Donetsk and Lugansk oblasts (500 thsd ha, or almost 10% of the forecasted areas under sunflower seed in Ukraine, informed the association, according to APK Inform.
Also, it is noted that oilseed processing capacities in Ukraine can cover the general harvest volumes, and increase the export potential of sunflower, rapeseed and soybean oils. But according to Ukroliyaprom, any enlarging of soybeans and rapeseed processing rates in the country is slowed down, by the mass exports of the reporting oilseeds, and the lack of effective measures to increase the oilseeds consumption for processing at the domestic enterprises.
