Ukraine planted spring grains and pulses throughout nearly 7 mln ha

The FINANCIAL -- As of June 8, Ukrainian agrarians planted spring grains and pulses throughout the areas of 6.832 mln ha, or 99% of the plan, as opposed to 7.661 mln ha on the same date last year, declared the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

In particular, Ukrainian agrarians planted corn for grain throughout 4.277 mln ha (98%), against 4.795 mln ha on the same date last year, according to APK Inform.

Ukraine continued planting buckwheat, millet and rice. As of the reporting date, the planted areas of buckwheat reached 121 thsd ha (95%), against 140 thsd ha; millet – 91 thsd ha (99%), against 95 thsd ha; and rice – 12 thsd ha (103%), against 10 thsd ha. Also, agrarians planted sunflower seed throughout 4.709 mln ha, or 102% of the forecast, against 4.698 mln ha; and soybeans – 1.997 mln ha (104%), against 1.677 mln ha.
