The FINANCIAL — The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine may show its interest in participating in the Trans-Caspian transport route, only after significant reduction by nearly 50% and more, of the tariff for container transportation towards Illichivsk, if the container moves to Poti and further, declared the Head of Business Projects Division of APK-Inform Agency, Rodion Rybchinskiy.
According to the expert, the officials should reduce the railway tariffs and the ferry costs to show their real interest in the project. Then the exports in new destination would become more attractive for Ukrainian companies, and such step would become a great advertising of the new route.
According to the Ukrzaliznytsia data, transportation of 1 tonne of confectionery products trough the new route from Ukraine to Kazakhstan is 270% more expensive than the transit through the Russian Federation. Also, the cost of sugar transportation will increase by 230%, and corn – up 3 times.
R.Rybchinskiy explained that rising of the costs for transportation of cargoes, depending on the container capacity, will total nearly 120-180 USD/t, which makes the majority of transported goods uncompetitive on delivery. Therefore, reducing of the logistics component is the urgent need.
