The FINANCIAL - Property values in San Diego, California have come a long way since Father Junípero Serra arrived in 1769 and began establishing Catholic missions. In fact, according to the latest survey from RealtyTrac, the median sales price of homes in San Diego is now $450,000.
Data pulled from RealtyTrac’s Homefacts website shows that 1.34 million people now live in the city, with more than a quarter of them between the ages of 21 and 35. About 72 percent of their year is sunny and dry, with average annual rainfall under ten inches. Average temperatures are less than 64 degrees with “Good Air Quality Days” accounting for about 89 percent of the year.
Serra’s value has also appreciated significantly. In September, Pope Francis plans to canonize him, 302 years after he was born and 27 years John Paul II beatified him.
